Tree Type: Great small space tree especially adapted for the conditions of the desert southwest. Brilliant rose-violet blooms appear in spring just before the foliage emerges. Glossy, blue-green leaves have pronounced wavy edges. Drought tolerant once established.

Soil Preference: The Mexican Redbud grows in acidic, alkaline, loamy, moist, sandy, well-drained, wet and clay soils. It is very drought-tolerant but can also grow in ground that is periodically saturated.
